FREE ZINE MORNING

Peg Powler Presents:
Middlesbrough Free Zine Morning!

A while back the Peg Powler Gallery engineered Middlesbrough Zine Festival and a pop-up shop dedicated to DIY publishing and fanzine culture. On Friday March 2nd zines are are back in town, in association with My Event's 24 hour programme of happenings to celebrate the launch of AV Festival 2012.

We will be making our way to several location across Boro, sharing examples of what zines are and how they can be used by anyone to express anything in a fun, rough and ready way. The theme of AV Festival 2012 is slowness, and zines are the old fashioned slow equivalent of blogs and push-button publishing. Put together with writing, typing, cutting, pasting, photocopying and stapling and distributed one person at a time. It is a culture that has never died out and if you meet us on Free Zine Morning we'll find a zine that fits your tastes and maybe you'll see why.

We start bright and early at Middlesbrough Railway Station at 8AM and will be traveling with our free zines to various locations to be announced soon, finishing up by 10 o'clock at Ack! Ack! Ack! Records on Linthorpe Road. We will also be leaving stashes of free zines at several places along our way.
